Integrating Social & Financial Skills Building in the National Secondary Education Curriculum in Cameroon

The Ministry of Secondary Education, SNAES and Aflatoun International organized the first of a series of workshops with the objective to operationalize the integration of social and financial education in the national education system in Cameroon. This workshop last week provided an orientation for the general inspectors of the different inspectorates where the Aflateen sessions will be incorporated (languages, arts and literature; humanities; and sciences). A key product the teams are currently working on is a set of comprehensive and integrated teachers’ guides. The Teachers Training Department also actively participated in the event as they will play a key role in the implementation. In addition in all secondary schools in the country Aflateen Clubs will be established. As the programme is being initially tested in 50 schools an RCT will be included starting early 2019.
