Summary: One Child One Light provides underprivleged children with access to low-cost, safe, and durable solar powered study lights, improving their ability to complete school work at home and by extension sustaining enrollment. --- One Child One Light (OCOL) was founded by Dr. Ranganayakulu Bodavala of THRIVE Solar Energy Pvt Ltd in 2009. The program addresses the night study needs of children located in rural, semi-urban and off-grid geographies by enhancing access to solar powered LED lights. Description of Scale and Reach
One Child One Light was started as a program of THRIVE Solar Energy Pvt Ltd in 2009. The program was set up as a Trust in 2011. By 2012, OCOL recruited full time staff and set up its office and systems. By 2013, OCOL spread to other cities in India, which include Bangalore, Mumbai, Pune and Jaipur.
