  • Description of Scale and Reach

The project was launched in August 2012 and successfully completed program activities in August 2013. The activities reached an estimated 12,394 individuals through meetings, including parents, community members, teachers, and officials working in education. In addition, 9 school councils were established and formalized at the district level with an estimated 514 parents and community members engaged in demanding improvements in the education sector. The project is now expanding to an additional two cities in Pakistan, beginning in November 2013. The CRCP model proved to be successful in that these school councils were duly recognized by the government. Tangible and verifiable improvements are evident in at least 75 schools in a short duration of three months based on the Charter of Demands brought forward by the school council members. One of the major achievements during this project was to obtain the written commitment of politicians on the implementation of Article 25-A. During the course of the project, taking advantage of the political campaigns for the general elections, CRCP successfully engaged the political parties and got commitments which include PTI, PMLN, PPPP, PMLQ, MQM, ex nazims and PMLF.
