Summary: Ajegunle L.I.F.E., a project of Paradigm Initiative Nigeria, offers free demand-driven Information and Communication Technologies, entrepreneurship, and life skills training to underprivileged youth in Ajegunle, Lagos. --- Unemployment is a major issue in Nigeria. Each year, tens of thousands of students graduate from tertiary institutions but only about 10% of them are gainfully employed 2 years after graduation. Disadvadvataged and low-income communities, such as Ajegunle in Lagos, account for a majority of these unemployed youth, many of whom are involved in criminal activities (including cybercrime) and whose negative impact on the society is high. - 2007 — commencement of "Ajegunle L.I.F.E." training program after baseline study - 2009 — Published the first edition of 'Echoes from Ajegunle' as case studies on Ajegunle L.I.F.E. graduates (there have been 4 editions since then) - 2010 — Commonwealth grant enables two graduates tell their stories at the eLearning Africa conference in Zambia - 2012 — Microsoft grant enabled the establishment of the Innovation Centre which serves as a knowledge hub where youth from the community are empowered for the world of work. - The program has trained youth from the community who had an average income of $0 and now earn an average income of $4 per day
